Oggi postiamo la seconda “storia lunga” dei nostri amici Sigarello e Dentino. Andiamo a vedere infatti la leggenda di Qu Yuan, dalla quale è nata quella delle barche drago. Andiamo subito a precisare un po’ di cosette:

1: La leggenda delle barche drago, o meglio… la storia di Qu Yuan, è una leggenda, che sia vissuto realmente o meno, che le barche avessero la forma di drago o meno… non importa, in quanto questo è un fumetto, che cerca di spiegare delle storie in modo leggero e a tratti divertente.

2: in quanto fumetto e quindi dovendo racchiudere i fatti all’interno di uno spazio ristretto, ho scelto, come nel caso della gru gialla, solamente una delle numerose versioni che circolano.

3: riferito al punto 2, la leggenda delle barche drago non è solamente riferita al personaggio di Qu Yuan, infatti è una tradizione che veniva usata anche in altre aree, quindi non riferita ai fatti raccontati; ma si sa, le leggende spesso amano riunirsi sotto un’unica grande “mamma” che le racchiude tutte.

Io ho scelto una versione che lascia aperte molte strade. Qu Yuan è stato salvato? Chi lo sa. Il lettore potrà sentirsi meglio pensando di sì, che forse i suoi concittadini siano riusciti a trovarlo e che abbia continuato a scrivere e a fare cose belle per il proprio paese, oppure pensare che… forse è stato meglio così, perchè altrimenti il dolore sarebbe stato troppo grande. ognuno pensi ciò che ritiene più giusto. Io vi mostro delle cose, a voi interpretarle.

Today we put the second “long story” of our friends Sigga and Theethy. Let’s see the legend of Qu Yuan, from which the dragon boat legend was born. Let’s go straight to point out a bit of things:

1: The legend of dragon boats, or rather … the story of Qu Yuan, is a legend, whether Qu Yuan really lived or not, boats had the shape of a dragon or not … no matter, this is a comic, that try to explain stories in a light and sometimes funny way.

2: as a comic and therefore having to enclose all facts within a restricted space, I chose, as in the case of the yellow crane, only one of the many versions.

3: Referred to point 2, the legend of dragon boats is not just related to the character of Qu Yuan; it’s a tradition that was also used in other areas, but you know, legends often love to get together under one big “mom” that encloses them all.

I’ve chosen a version that leaves many open roads. Was Qu Yuan saved? Who knows. The reader will feel better thinking yes, maybe his fellow citizens found him, or think that … maybe it was better so, because otherwise his pain would have been too much. Each one of you thinks of what he thinks is right. I show you things, to you to interpret them.
